On occasion the researcher comes across experimental data that defy analysis with standard fitting or transformation methods. The data may give unintelligible results or provide inconsistent interpretations. Such data can often be caused by non-ideal sedimentation behaviour such as concentration depency of the sediment coefficient, by aggregation or In such cases the van Holde - Weischet analysis can serve as a valuable diagnostic tool for concentration dependency in S as well as aggregation causing loss of material due to heterogeneity. Each condition is described below.
